My first blog award

Thank you so much, Alexandra, for nominating me for this award. You are a great inspiration to me. The deal when accepting this award is to name five things that you love. Well, here goes.

I love...
1. when I really know that God is talking to me and working in me.
2. my first cup of tea in the morning, especially when my husband makes it for me.
3. eating out.
4. spending time with positive people. (it's so uplifting)
5. running in the early morning when it is still dark and then becoming aware of the day beginning as the sun starts to rise. (awesome and envigorating)

Blog Hop

This is one of my favourite designs for a card. I have used it quite a few times for special /milestone birthday cards. It is a simple design but the embellishments (flower and ribbons) make it so pretty for me.
Here is an another example of this card design that I made for my friend's 60th. Also made the little gift box.

Some more cards

I started out as a scrapbooker but I am really enjoying making cards at the moment. I have so many photos to scrap from the holidays but I find the thought of planning a scrapbook page rather daunting right now. Hope my scrapbooking mojo will return soon. Cards allow me a quick creative outlet. Here are two cards I completed this morning after my run.

A happy day!

Happy today because I have just recovered from a bout of flu and was able to run a road race this morning. I am aiming to run Comrades Marathon again this year so need to train and can't afford time off recovering from colds and flu. Posting this picture as a reminder of where I want to be on 24th May 2009

Have just placed an order for some stamp sets from Papertey Ink. Can't wait for them to arrive so I can get crafting again. These things have made me very JOYFUL today.

Post-it booklet

Saw this idea on Alexandra's blog and had to give it a try. Click on the link for more detailed instructions. A quick and easy project which helps to use up all those scraps. Have seen different ways of covering the post it notes but this one appealed to me.

What is joy?

Taking time to focus on the word JOY.

Definitions of joy

1.(verb) rejoice, joy
feel happiness or joy

2.(verb) gladden, joy
make glad or happy

3.(noun)

something or someone that provides pleasure; a source of happiness

4.(noun)
the emotion of great happiness

Read a post on Melissa Phillips' blog that spoke to me. These are quotes from her post:

"We as women are so lucky in many, many ways. We have been blessed with the incredible gift of compassion and love....our hearts and hands are wonderful tools for good and can bring so much happiness and joy to those we encounter"

and

"Creation brings deep satisfaction and fulfillment. We develop ourselves and others when we take unorganized matter into our hands and mold it into something of beauty..."

Happy Birthday Dad

It is my Dad's 70th birthday today. Made this card for him.

Also made these little tag cards (scraplings) for my nephews. So many birthdays now after Christmas. Making good use of my MM Slice. Just love it.

One little word 2009

After reading Ali Edwards' blog I have decided to choose a word too. My word for 2009 is JOY. There is so much I need to be thankful for that I should always be filled with joy. However, I tend to be very negative and always complain about everything. I am going to try very hard to look for the positive in everything and be more JOYFUL.

The best thing anyone can do is eat, drink and enjoy what he has earned. And yet, I realized that even this comes from God. How else could you have anything to eat or enjoy yourself at all? Ecclesiastes 2:24-25

Happy New Year

Best wishes to everyone for a healthy, happy and prosperous New Year.

I have been busy with a few cards. Here is a Thank You card I made.
Made this envelope that will hold Christmas photos. Saw this on Leah Fung's blog. There is also a template for the CD envelope.
